Make a Difference

In April 2023, the Mathews Community Foundation Board agreed to support a community meeting about the major issues faced by people dealing with poverty every day. This led to the creation of the Mathews County Against Poverty (MCAP) initiative, which aims to establish a community group to reduce the number of homes in Mathews without basic necessities like running water, proper septic systems, and childcare.

MCAP is also working on addressing inadequate housing and transportation in Mathews County. Donations can currently be made through the Mathews Community Foundation.
